The history of electric daisy carnival and insomniac events
Insomniac Events was created by event fanatic and passionate entrepreneur, Pasquale Rotella in 1993 (pictured left). Pasquale began his event planning career after attending his first underground party in 1991 and the music, decor and overall atmosphere struck him and he began promoting ever since.
Insomniac Events has now become a multimillion dollar organization responsible for, on average, 12 major festival-styled events per year in over a dozen cities, including Puerto Rico, Seattle, Dallas, Denver, Orlando and Los Angeles. Insomniac also runs various club nights and nightly events, making them responsible for hundreds of events! At the end of last year, Insomniac had entertained over half a million music fans.
All Insomniac Events are distinguished by their state of the art lighting techniques, theatrical performances and audience participation. Of All Insomniac's smaller brands (SoCal organizations such as Noctural Wonderland, Audiotistic and Bassrush) Electric Daisy Carnival has undoubtedly become their biggest and most famous!

Electric daisy history
The first Electric Daisy Carnival was held in 1997 at the Shrine Expo Hall. It was initially a one day event, yet it expanded into a two day event in 2009 with over 140 000 guests, which made it the biggest electronic dance music festival outside of Europe. From 1997-2009 Electric Daisy was only held in Southern California, yet in 2009 it was brought to Puerto Rico.
Due to the high demand for the Southern California event (typically held in June) they moved venues in 2011 from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Last year's three day event was said to have brought in over 230 000 people, and early bird tickets sold out within the first week.
This 2012 year, EDC will come to New York City for the first time ever in May and will return to Vegas on June 8th, 9th and 10th. I cannot wait!
